    Retiring to France

If you are thinking of retiring permanently in France you should first inform your D.S.S. office a few weeks before your intended date of departure. The D.S.S. will set the necessary administrative arrangements in motion. These will depend on whether or not you are already in receipt of a UK state and/or private pension. You will need to fill in the appropriate form according to your personal situation, but rest assured that you will be able to claim any pension you are entitled to, and you will be able to register with the French health system.

Further information can be obtained from the D.S.S. at the address below:

    D.S.S. - Overseas Branch
    EU Office Longbenton
    Newcastle upon Tyne NE98 1YX
    tel: 0191 213 5000

Ask for The SA29 leaflet "your special security, health care and pensions right in the European Community"
