British Foreign Office Report for France
The British Foreign Office website is updated regularly and is well worth a look. As well as specific information on France, it also contains all the latest travel warnings etc.

US Foreign Office report for France
This site is more useful to US citizens as it gives full visa requirements etc. However, in the interest of a balanced view, it is always worth checking both the UK and US government sites.

Having searched far and wide for good, value for money travel insurance we finally found this company. They offer very wide range of plans, from basic medical emergency and personal liability insurance to full any-scenario insurance at very low prices. Their site also features full explanations of each type of insurance and a very easy to use quote generator.

The Traveller's Handbook
This book is mentioned elsewhere on the site, but we really cannot recommend it enough. It contains everything today's traveller could possibly need, including contact information for all of the British, Canadian and US embassies, telephone numbers for airports, climate data and hundreds of interesting articles on subjects as diverse as advice for women travelling alone and advice on how to survive a kidnap. Indispensable.
